Our growing (literally) Tot Shabbat community is a great way to meet other Jewish parents with newborn to five-year-old children. It is a Jewish holiday that makes the ending of one cycle of the public readings of Torah and the starting of another cycle. The first day of Succot is a full holiday on which work is prohibited. Most of the lesser festivals are lesser because they have a private rather than public face. Twenty-five years in the making, the decision brings us measurably closer to the simple, basic fact that there is more than one way to be Jewish and that there should be "One Wall for One People".
