Hey Boogas,

Happy Hump Day! I’m having a splendid week so far. On Monday, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the 2012 Women of Excellence in the Arts event held at the Riverside Theatre in NYC. I had no idea what I was in for but I am so pleased at what I left there with. This event was a great acknowledgment of African American women within the arts who have made great careers for themselves. The panel consisted of Winsome Sinclair; a Casting Director, Mona Scott-Young; CEO of MONAMI Entertainment a.k.a the creator of Love & Hip Hop reality show, Melba Moore; Broadway Actress, Malikha Mallette; Radio Host of Power 105.1, Lilias White; Broadway Actress and Jacquie Lee; Associate Producer of A Street Car Named Desire.

The event was great. It was like going to lunch with your girlfriends and just having a great conversation about our issues. They even gave the audience a chance to ask questions which also helped to engage in much deeper conversations. I stood up and asked a question and I was a lil nervous until I started talking on the mic. LOL. I didn’t know what I wanted to ask at first but it just sort of flowed. After the panel was done speaking they had a VIP party with a live band playing instruments. I networked with people and had a great time.

I am definitely looking forward to attending this event next year. Hopefully, I will be the host! Owwww! See you guys next year.
